    FutureReadyNYC AI Workshops

Tech:NYC Foundation x NYC Public Schools

A series of workshops helping NYC teachers and students use AI to build real skills, real portfolios, and real career readiness.

    About the Program

FutureReadyNYC is a micro-internship program run by Tech:NYC Foundation in partnership with the NYC Department of Education. Build First is facilitating a series of AI workshops for both teachers and students across three career pathways: Software Engineering, Data Analytics, and Cybersecurity.

Teachers attend two training sessions to understand the program structure and learn how AI can support their students. Students then attend a hands-on workshop to build a real portfolio piece using AI tools approved by NYC DOE.

    Workshop Sessions

    Workshop 1For Teachers

Getting Started with AI in the Classroom

    Date: April 29, 2026Time: 3:00–4:30 p.m. (Zoom)

An introduction to the FutureReadyNYC micro-internship program and how AI can support teaching. Teachers will walk through the 6-week curriculum structure across three career pathways (Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity), get hands-on with Play Lab, and build a student support resource they can use right away. You'll leave ready to guide students through their micro-internship journey.

    Workshop 2For Teachers

AI at Work & Preparing Students to Build

    Date: May 6, 2026Time: 3:00–4:30 p.m. (Zoom)

A deeper look at how companies actually use AI today and what "AI-fluent" skills students need for the future of work. Teachers will preview the student workshop tracks, practice with the same tools students will use (Google Gemini & NotebookLM), and develop coaching strategies to help students showcase their work. This session bridges the gap between classroom prep and real-world readiness.

    Workshop 3For Students

    Build Your Portfolio with AI

    Date: April 28, 2026Time: 4:00–5:30 p.m. (Zoom)

A hands-on session where students use Google Gemini and NotebookLM to create something real for their portfolio. After a brief intro to AI safety and the future of work, students pick a track — building a personal portfolio page, a research project, or a 5-year career plan — and get building. You'll walk away with a finished project and the language to talk about what you made.
